Individual Psychotherapy |
What is Psychotherapy?Individual therapy (sometimes called “psychotherapy” or “counseling”) is a process through which clients work one-on-one with a trained therapist—in a safe, caring, and confidential environment—to explore their feelings, beliefs, or behaviors, work through challenging or influential memories, identify aspects of their lives that they would like to change, better understand themselves and others, set personal goals, and work toward desired change.
|
What are the benefits?People seek therapy for a wide variety of reasons, from coping with major life challenges or childhood trauma, to dealing with depression or anxiety, to simply desiring personal growth and greater self-knowledge. A client and therapist may work together for as few as five or six sessions or as long as several years, depending on the client’s unique needs and personal goals for therapy.

SpecializationAs a mental health professional, I have worked with individuals, families, and groups to address and treat mental and emotional disorders and to promote mental health. I have been trained in a variety of therapeutic techniques used to address issues such as depression, anxiety, addiction and substance abuse, suicidal impulses, stress, trauma, low self-esteem, and grief. I can also help with job and career concerns, educational decisions, mental and emotional health issues, and relationship problems. In addition, I am involved in community outreach, advocacy, and mediation activities. I have also specialized in delivering mental health services for the elderly. As a mental health professional, I work closely with other mental health specialists, such as psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, psychiatric nurses, and school counselors to ensure overall mind rejuvenation.
